Deacon Gregory Clark Obituary

Gregory Allen Clark was born to Vanderbelt Clark II and Carzella Fields on January 10, 1963. He was born into a family of nine children and gained an additional seven siblings when Isiah Jackson and Carzella Jackson married. Also, he gained 3 siblings when Vanderbelt Clark II and Evg. Johnnie Mae Clark married. His parents and his two step-parents along with five brothers: Alfred White (Peety), Forrest Jackson (Stanley), Wilford Jackson, Van Lamont Clark and Darren Clark (Mooney) preceded him in death.

Everyone that knew Greg experienced him as a humble, jolly, down-to-earth and honest guy. He greeted you with a smile, subjected you to a corny joke and gave the best advice from a well of knowledge beyond his years. Greg began his early education in the Wellston, MO school district. By 6th grade his family moved to Berkeley, MO where he continued his education. He completed his high school education at North County Technical School and graduated in 1981 with honors.

Greg began his career by enlisting in the US. Army in April of 1983. He went to basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and became a 91B Combat Engineer. In August 1983, he advanced his career by joining the 82nd Airbone Special Forces Division in Fort Bragg, NC to become a paratrooper. He completed a tour in Grenada in October of 1983 and went through jungle training in Panama in 1984. Greg returned to Ft Leonard Wood, MO in 1986 where he finished his military career.

Greg started dating his high school sweetheart, Pamela Tilson in March of 1981. Their romance blossomed and they became inseparable. Greg proposed to Pam in November of 1983, and they were married May 27, 1984. From this union came 3 bundles of joy: Tamela, Racquel and Timothy.

When Greg returned to the workforce he began his career with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 36. He worked in the field for 30+ years contributing to the building of many major commercial and residential projects in St. Louis and the greater Missouri area. Greg truly enjoyed his work. He was quickly elevated to a journeyman in his early 30's. He was a man of integrity and character and made many friends along the way.

Greg was not a frivolous man: He wanted his life to matter, not just to people but to God as well. He dedicated his life to Christ in April of 1989. Then he and his family joined Lively Stone Church of God soon after. Greg followed the life of a servant-dedicating his time, talents and energy to God and the church. He honored the Word of God by using it as the measurement to live his life. He was in several ministries such as the Men's Department, the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Choir, Lively Stone Steward and finally becoming a Deacon. Greg loved sharing the Word of God and had a deep love and concern for God's people. He was a faithful leader who always had a willing heart and helping hand to serve people.

To know Greg was to know his huge heart, contagious smile, friendly attitude, and his love for his family, but mostly his strong desire to live a life for Christ.

Greg leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Pamela M. Clark, 3 children: Tamela (Kenneth) Porter, Racquel N Clark, and Timothy A. Clark. Two grandchildren: Imani Bedford and Mitchell Porter. Mother-in-Law: Margret Green, Siblings: Jacqueline Clark, Richard Clark, Linda (Edward) Willis, Michael Clark, Randolph Clark, Thomascina (Bruce) Stringfellow, Lee Van (Sacha) Clark, Yvette Clark, Johnny (Davetta) Clark, Karen Mayo, Camilla Henton, Vallen Jackson, Isial1 Hinton, a host of brother and sister in laws, host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
