Dr. Anthony Rudolph Bell Nesbitt

The Journey

Dr. Anthony Rudolph Bell Nesbitt was the eldest of 10 children, born to the union of the late Samuel Rudolph Nesbitt and Helen Elizabeth Bell Nesbitt, both preceding him in death. On September 26, 1951, Anthony was born in Melbourne, Florida and his family relocated to Nassau, Bahamas in 1952.

Early Education:

Anthony attended Blanche Ely High school where he completed his general education courses. He enrolled in Broward Junior College in 1970, completing several classes in Pre-Med, and later obtained his bachelor’s degree in human services with a minor in Psychology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Anthony was very studious and was always expanding his educational experiences. His love for leadership and management led him to secure additional certificates from the Illinois Management Training Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Anthony was also awarded the Top Leadership Award from Ft. Jackson Leadership Preparatory School.

Spiritual Education:

At an early age, Anthony confessed his love for Christ and developed a profound gift for delivering, speaking, and preaching the goodness of God. Anthony focused more on his spiritual development and expounded on his gifts to serve the community and its citizens. Anthony had a way with reaching and retaining individuals that focused on winning souls for Christ. His hunger and thirst for the knowledge of God and to win souls for Christ, led him to obtain Certificates of Ordination from various organizations.

After being mentored and gaining more experience he would later use as a pastor, Anthony’s spiritual level increased in nature and so did his outreach.  This growth led to Anthony transitioning to another realm and therefore led him to receive a certificate of Ordinance with the Church of God in Christ in 1981.

Anthony’s years of being mentored by prominent “Men of God” gave him the confidence to step out on faith and start his own ministry. After being granted blessings and the encouragement from his mentors, fellow instructors, and spiritual leaders, Reverend Anthony Nesbitt was led by the holy spirit to bring to fruition, Revelation Pentecostal Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant Victory in Christ Christian Church, both established in East St. Louis, Illinois.

As time continued, Anthony received a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Midwest College of Theology in 2012, a master’s degree in theology from Metropolitan Christian Bible Institute in 2016 and his ultimate achievement of becoming Dr. Anthony Rudolph Bell Nesbitt where he received his Doctorate of Theology degree from Anchor Theological Seminary and Bible Institute was accomplished in 2021.

Military Career:

Dr. Nesbitt enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1977. During this time, Dr. Nesbitt served as a Vietnam Era Veteran, and was awarded the Overseas Service Medal with second oak leaf cluster, the Top Basic Training Physical Fitness Award, Leadership Award, and expert Marksmanship Badge. He also served as an instructor for the United States Army from 1983 until 1988.

Work, Life, and Balance:

Anthony was a very consistent, diligent, and hard-working individual who believed in providing for his family. Anthony enjoyed challenging himself as well as others. He never backed down from an opportunity to prove his intelligence. With parents who valued education and a good work ethic, Anthony was determined to meet and exceed all expectations. Anthony devoted over 25 years of excellence and service as an employee for Union Electric Company which is now known as Ameren U.E.

Anthony worked within several departments and various capacities during his time at Ameren, and at each level, gained admiration and respect for his transparency and no-nonsense demeanor. His leadership and continued growth allowed for Anthony to work at his full potential, while maximizing his opportunities at Ameren. Anthony reached the level of a Journeyman Cable Splicer in 1978 until his retirement in 2011.

During Anthony’s time as a full-time employee at Ameren U.E. he also spent his spare time working for the City of Washington Park, Illinois, as the Village Clerk. He carried this position with fortitude and pride until he was elected to be the Administrative Aide and serve as a member of the Board of Trustees. He also maintained a steady position as Washington Parks’ Deputy Clerk.

Anthony’s love for his community and overall social networking prompted the recognition from several interest groups. One in which he was destined to join and provide mentorship and influence on other members, was Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated, Mu Omega Graduate Chapter, East St. Louis, Illinois.

Anthony’s words of wisdom reached far and wide. He spoke with authority, emotion, and passion. One of his most favorite acknowledgments to himself can be summarized in his own words, “I am proud of all the above accomplishments, but more than this, being a proud parent and father of children who also are striving to do their best. May the Almighty God Bless.”

Dr. Anthony Rudolph Bell Nesbitt made his final transition from labor to reward on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, at 9:00 am. During his transition, he was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and his loving children. He leaves to cherish memories his loving wife, Elect Lady Lisa D. Nesbitt, his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and strong Bahamian roots grounded in culture and tradition.
