Mother Emma Patterson Obituary

LIFE REFLECTIONS

Mother Emma Patterson, matriarch, griot, demon slayer, and prayer warrior, shared her love of God and His miracle working power with this world and family from June 15, 1938, to March 25, 2024.  She was educated in the school systems of Glendora, Mississippi.  She worked at Puro Chemical Company for 15 years.

Matriarch Emma Patterson was the head of the family, the backbone of the family, and the glue that held the family together.  All problems in need of a solution came through the matriarch, Mother Emma Patterson.  Her solutions were always Godly and included His healing and delivering power.  Though she prayed for her family helping them to conquer their trials and tribulations, those who were unsaved, she would always say: “You need to get saved.” She prayed for many of her grandchildren to be healed defying doctors’ prognosis they would never be healed.  She experienced doctors being baffled as to how the disease, or the effects of accidents, were no longer present when they could see the detrimental effects on their x-rays and other medical documentation.  Matriarch Emma Patterson would say, “I know how it happened:  THE HEALING POWER OF JESUS.”

Griot Emma Patterson had more history than any of the family could believe.  Casual conversations with her would reveal that she not only knew about the headlines of the civil rights movement, but that she knew some of the participants in the civil rights movements, villains, and activists alike.

Saint of The Most High God, Mother Emma Patterson was a member of Grace Apostolic Church in 1981, was baptized in Jesus Name in 1985 at the Temple Church of Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost with fire and power.  She was a member of Greater Grace Church until her daughter went into ministry (Beyond The Hurt Ministries).  She supported her daughter in her ministry endeavors until her transition.

She believed in testifying to the glory of God and was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16).  She subscribed to the scripture, Joshua 24:15,”as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”  She lived out Acts 1:8,” after you receive the Holy Ghost, you shall receive power” and Luke 10:19, “behold I have given you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions.” Through the power of God and His word, Mother Patterson did victorious spiritual warfare in her own life and the lives of family, friends and loved ones.

She shared a relationship with her beloved husband, Mike Patterson, for fifty-eight years. He was one of her converts.  Through him listening quietly to her daily reading of the Bible, praying, and watching her favorite Gospel shows, he said to her one day, “I have asked God for forgiveness of my sins.”  This filled her heart with joy.  Mother Emma Patterson leaves a legacy of faith in God, His Word and Holy living.  She never stopped witnessing of the power and might of God.

Mother Patterson leaves to celebrate her life three daughters, Dorothy Matthews, Stephanie Patterson, and Develon Patterson; her grandchildren, Sha-Sha, Savannah, Darrel (“D.J.”), Corey, Erika, Brandon, Alicia, Allen-Michael, Melanie, Chastity, Edward, Michael (“Mikey”), Danielle, Marshaun, Brittanie, Tranetta, Cardasia and Camelya; over 50 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mother Emma Patterson was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Davis and her husband, Mike Patterson.
