Derrick’s Life Reflections
Derrick (Childs) Jamison was born on May 13, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri to Willie Louis Jamison and Juanita Jamison. Both parents preceded him in death along with, sister’s Cheryl Diane Davis, Sharen Renee Thomas, Katie Elizabeth Childs, brother Daryl Pendleton, and his lovely daughter Erica Jamison (Twin to Eric Jamison).
Derrick married Marilyn Stamps (the love of his life) and to this union two children were born, Derrick Louis Jamison and Tamica (Jamison) Brooks.
Derrick confessed hope in Christ and was baptized at the Union Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Euclid Elementary, Soldan High School and St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. He worked several jobs throughout life, working in sales was his favorite.
Derrick was best known as “FUNK” as well as “Unc” to many who knew him. However, he had a favorite saying, known by ALL who knew him, “SAY IT BOY.” He loved everybody’s kids and he always had a pocket full of candy for them.
His favorite pastime was hanging out with his buddies and talking trash on the corners of the West Side. You would find him anywhere from Page and Academy to Union and Page.
On March 23, 2023 he received his call from the Lord to come home and join his heavenly family. Derrick leaves to cherish his memories: His loving children, Derrick Louis Jamison, Tamica (Rodney) Brooks and Eric (LaShira) Jamison. Beloved grandchildren, Elijah Brooks (Atlanta, Ga.), Kyler Brooks, Angel Brooks, and Erica Jamison, Sisters, Brenda Jamison, Velda (Anthony) Jamison, and LaVette Jamison.
Half-brother, Muhammad Talibadin. Stepfather, Ken Artis, Stepbrothers James Artis, Gerald Mathews, Clifton Mathews, and Stepsisters Kenya Artis and Clara Mathews, and Adrianne Mathews. Two special daughters Chantel Russell and Kimmie McKnight Roberson. Lastly, he leaves two Aunties Rosalee Charleston, Hattie Mae Higginbottom and Uncle, John C. Jamison (Detroit, MI). He certainly will be missed by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as great nieces, nephews, friends, and his ENTIRE WEST SIDE FAMILY!!!!!! SAY IT BOY!!!!!!!!!!
