Reflections of His Journey
Jesse (Jed) Lee Jones Jr. was born January 20, 1966, in Saint Louis, MO to Louise and Jesse Jones, Sr. He was the second oldest of three children. His oldest brother Terry Jones, Sr. preceded him in death.
Jed was educated in the St. Louis Public School system and is an alumnus of Soldan High School. Post high school, he enrolled in truck driving school and embarked upon a life-long career as a truck driver. Jed is a proud member of Local 682.
Jed was a man who valued family and was eager to start his own. After a brief courtship, he married Cynthia Smith on October 24, 1987, and to this union three children were born, Jessica, Antoine and Cassandra, and two bonus children, Anthony and Shantelle, instantly became a part of his family.
Jed fell in love with music at an early age and was somewhat of a musical genius. He often expressed himself through his art and used music to connect with family and friends. He learned and mastered playing a variety of instruments from his Dad and uncle, but the drums were his favorite. Jed played drums for Andrew Wartts & The Gospel Storytellers and the famous Chuck Berry.
Jed was a man of few words but was loved and respected by family and friends. He always showed up for his family and friends when needed. He enjoyed celebrating life’s greatest moments and spending holidays with his family. Jed often engaged in activities that brought him solace and a silent joy. He loved fishing and riding his motorcycle with his brother and cousins. Jed was an active and valuable member of the King of Hearts Motorcycle Club, where he proudly served as Road Captain.
On March 31, 2024, a glorious Easter Sunday, God called Jesse home to his eternal resting place. We can all take comfort in knowing and believing he did not suffer and will go directly to Heaven’s Paradise.
Jed leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Louise and Jesse Jones, Sr.; brother, Michael Jones; two daughters, Jessica Jones and Cassandra Hatton (Bernard); one son, Antoine Jones (Brittany); eleven grandchildren; Janelle, Joshua, Jajuan, Jordan, JaShaun, Camille, Daril, Isaiah, Damoni, Khi, and Neveah; two nephews, Terry and Ronald Jones, one niece, Kayandra Mopkins; one aunt, Bertha Dickerson; his life partner, Darlene Baker-Rogers; and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
