Lovingly known by most as “Baby Ray” or simply known as “Ray,” he was born on the 2nd day of March in 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Orlando Thomas and Constance Daniels. Ray was the second-born twin to his parents.
Raymond was educated in the St. Louis County School District up until he was 12 years old. He was a smart kid and would often bring home A’s and B’s. During ages 6-12, he participated in baseball, basketball, and football at Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club and received numerous trophies, honors, and awards.
In 2005, at the age of 12, he relocated to Merrillville, Indiana, with his mother and twin brother, Damon, where he continued his education and playing sports, graduating from Merrillville High School. In 2016, he and his brother moved back to St. Louis with their father. He enrolled in Ranken Technical School, following in his father’s footsteps, learning the HVAC trade, and later became an apprentice. Raymond was an extremely hard worker and always strived to be the best, and gave his all in his endeavors. He worked for DB Schenker as a forklift driver while also working for the trade union doing construction on a million-dollar home.
When Raymond moved back to St. Louis, he and his brother regularly attended church with their father at Faith Miracle Temple under the leadership of Apostle Larry J. Baylor. He was baptized in the name of Jesus and worked in various ministries. He loved his church family and would always be available when called upon. Raymond would often go back to Indiana to visit his mother and his son “Remy,” whom he loved more than life.
Raymond enjoyed spending quality time with his family, friends, and attending family functions. He also loved watching different sporting events with his dad and twin brother. Raymond and his twin often referred to themselves as “Double Trouble,” aka DT4L. From birth til death, they were inseparable. They had a bond like no other. Their mother would often say, “They are the new meaning of Siamese twins.”
Raymond touched many lives and was known as a very respectful and well-mannered young man. He was a talented artist and drew numerous beautiful masterpieces. He found love at Faith Miracle Temple and was sharing his life with his fiancée, Dominique, aka “Nikki.” Ray’s mother welcomed her and called her “Daughter.” Raymond and Nikki both shared the same goals and dreamed of building a family and an empire and were engaged to be married and spend their lives together.
Raymond Thomas was called home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2021. Even in his death, he was named a hero because he chose to give the gift of life by donating his organs to those in need. Raymond was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal great-grandmothers, Ethel Lee Harris and Drunetter Johnson, and paternal grandparents, Lottie B. Robinson and Authur Lee Thomas.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory: his loving parents, Orlando Thomas, who he affectionately called “Pops,” and Constance Daniels; one son, Rahmir Lamar Thomas; his fiancée, Dominique Brand; three siblings, Damon, Erica, and Cameron; grandparents, Fred and Betty Binion, and Shelton Robinson; one great-grandfather, Robert Hairston; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
