Mr. Tyler Jeffries Obituary

Tyler Maxwell Jeffries was the eldest son of Dereke and La Toya Jeffries. Born on Sunday, May 21, 2000, his big personality and magnetic smile drew people from the very beginning. In addition to his natural charm, he was a kind-hearted and respectful young man of faith. Tyler accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on August 24, 2014.

Tyler graduated from McCluer North High School in May 2018. While there, he was active in the “Men on Business” organization. He attended Missouri State University – West Plains before returning home to St. Louis to work and pursue his true interests.

Tyler’s favorite football team was the Seattle Seahawks, and while he played football, baseball, and basketball, his true love was music and singing. He sang in the Shalom Church Next Generation Choir, performed in various concerts, auditioned for “The Voice,” and even wrote his own songs.

Tyler loved his family and friends. He never met a karaoke stage he didn’t like and o  en took the stage to sing with his Mom. His best performance was singing Happy Birthday to his Granny. He enjoyed watching sports with his Dad, playing video games with his brother and friends, and reaching out to his Papa when he needed another ally to keep him out of trouble with his parents. He was also well known for never turning down a food challenge—anything from seasoned crickets to deep-fried snickers or ghost pepper hot wings. In his spare time, Tyler enjoyed watching anime shows. He lived a blessed and joyful life! The memory of his beautiful spirit and contagious laugh will be forever etched in our hearts.

Tyler leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Dereke and La Toya; brother, Ethen; grandparents, Wyndell and Marguerite Grove, Firral Sr., and Mary Jeffries (preceded him in death); great-aunt, Arlene Chapman; Jerry (Karen) Archable; Geneva Archable; godparents, Terrence and Angel Watkins; aunts, Brenda Davis, Mary Jackson, Crystal Jeffries, Cheryl Jeffries, and Michelle (LaMorra) Archable; uncles, Howard (Cynthia) Turner, Firral (Joyce) Je  ries, Jr., Isadore (Dorcas) Davis, Randy (Monica) Hunt, Jerome (Tammie) Jeffries, Reggie (Shaquan) Grove, and Chris (Christina) Grove; a host of other family members and dear friends; and his dog, Rocko.

It’s no surprise to us that Tyler was an organ donor. His generosity will bless the lives of others.

Fun Fact: His personality was so magnanimous, everyone he met considered him their best friend.
