Mr. Vernell Jackson, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Vernell "Juno" Jackson, Jr., was born on July 10, 1962, to the union of Vernell Jackson, Sr., and Vera M Jackson in St. Louis, Missouri. Both parents preceded him in death.

Vernell was baptized at an early age while attending United Methodist Church/UMC. His mother Vera Jackson was the Sunday School Teacher and Vernell sang in the choir.

Vernell attended the St. Louis Public Schools at Langston Elementary and Beaumont High School where he completed his studies in 1980.

On May 6, 1995, Vernell Jackson, Jr., married Debbie D. Jackson nee Singleton in Bloomington, IL. The couple remained united in holy matrimony until Mr. Jackson departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at The Evelyn's House Hospice Facility.

Vernell participated in several skill building workshops/training programs where he became certified as a Laser Power Coat Painter for Powell's Transformer and Cupple's Mfg in Union and Washington, MO. He loved training dogs and  horses,  often  breeding  and  training pit bulls. He and his wife ran a rescue shelter on their land in St. Clair, MO that became partially funded by the Humane Society of Franklin County. The couple boarded up to 15 dogs at a time while running their own Paint Contracting  Company  for  over  10  years. Vernell retired from his labors after becoming ill in June 2022.

Vernell (aka Juno) never met a stranger. Everyone immediately welcomed him and his witty sense of humor.  He  loved  the game  of Chess  often matting his opponent. He was hilarious and loved being surrounded by family and sharing family meals with laughter at home.

Vernell (Juno) leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 28 years, Debbie D. Jackson; two sons, Vernon Harris and Mark Jones; two daughters, Shontarra Kieal Hughley and Shameika Shanel Hughley; five grandsons, Dailyn Johnson, Brandon Williams, Carter M. Jones, and Mekhi and Milo Hughley; one sister Janice Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
