Mrs. Christean ("Granny-Chris") Williams

Reflections of a Life Well-Lived

Christean Williams (Granny Chris) was born on February 11, 1940,  in Dundee, Mississippi to the union of Willie Sr. and Mae Willie Tompkins.

Christean accepted Christ early in life and was baptized in his faith at Rising Sun Baptist Church in Dundee, Mississippi. After relocating to St. Louis, Missouri she found a new church home at Mt. Hebrew Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Sam Williams.

Christean was united in Holy Matrimony to Billy F. Williams on February 25, 1957.  They shared 51 years of their lives together and were blessed with five beautiful children: Debra Stean, Billy Gene, Reneice, Pamela Renae and Kaminsky Desha.

Christean loved life and her family, especially her grandkids. She always chose to be “Happy” and never met a stranger.  Her love had no boundaries, and she always had a good word for you.  She enjoyed spending all holidays at her house, listening to music, reading, watching soap operas, daily news, cleaning, and talking on the phone with her sisters. Her most important chore of the day was making sure the grandkids made it off the school bus safely. She will be missed.

Christean transitioned from this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She leaves countless loving memories to her Four Daughters, Debra (Steve), Reneice (Marty), Pamela (Carl) and Kaminsky (Darryl); Two Grandsons - Damien (Tiffani) and Carl; Six Granddaughters – Kim (Jeremy), Taliya, Marshay (Brian), Raven, Karli, and Jordan; Twelve Great Grandkids Yasmin, Destini, Deja, Dakota, Demetrius, Darrius, Jeremy, Megan, Carl Jr., Alexander, Jordan, and Skylar; One Brother – Robert (Linda); Two Sisters – Idella (Henry) and Ruby (Dave); many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other family and friends.

Those who have preceded to the Lord since Christean’s ascension to Heaven are: Husband, Billy F Williams; Father, Willie Tompkins Sr.; Mother, Mae Willie Tompkins; Son, Billy G. Williams (Pookie); Sisters, Morsette Jones  and Frankie Tompkins-Miller; Brothers, W.T. Tompkins and Willie Tompkins, Jr.
