Mrs. Margaret Franklin Obituary

Margaret “Meddy” Cummings Franklin was born on March 16, 1942, in Saint Louis, MO, to Johnnie and Susie Loretta Cummings, both of whom preceded her in death. As the oldest child, she was a positive influence in the lives of her siblings.

At the tender age of seven, Margaret embraced her faith in Christ at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, embarking on a lifelong journey marked by unwavering dedication to her beliefs and a steadfast commitment to living a life reflective of her Christian values. Her educational journey began at St. Nicholas and St. Ann Catholic Elementary schools, culminating in her graduation from Hadley Technical High.

Margaret's life was a testament to selflessness and compassion. She dedicated herself to her family while working as a domestic engineer and caregiver, where people were consistently touched by her loving spirit, reliability, and sincerity.

In her retirement years, Margaret embodied the principle of being her "brother's keeper" by extending her love and support to those in need. Until her health declined, she served as the events coordinator at her residence where she cheerfully served her fellow residents.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her eldest son, Donald Stroud, her sister, Renee Cummings and her brothers:

Johnnie "Boone", Sterling, Allen, Gregory, Aaron, Michael, and Kenneth; two aunts, Jacqueline "Singie" Jones and Doris Buckner; and one uncle, Norvell Prather.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory: her stepmother, Wayvene Cummings, her children, Darryl Stroud, Debra (McArthur) Tobias, Donna (Anthony) Braden, and George Hobson, Jr.; her siblings: Yvonne Cummings, Cheryl (Keith) Smith, Carolyn Jones, Bruce (Betty) Cummings and Norvell (Denassa) Cummings, nine granddaughters, two grandsons a host of nieces, nephews and her cousins Clara As we bid farewell to Margaret, let us heed the words of Galatians 6:9, "Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." May her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith inspire us to follow in her footsteps, serving others with love and compassion.
