BESSIE MARIE JOHNSON, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Adopted Mother, and Friend to many, was born on November 10, 1959, in St. Louis, MO. She was the fifth child born to Robert and Hattie Johnson. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Susan Payne and Eunice Johnson; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Johnny Johnson; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Edwards.
Bessie attended Berkeley High School, graduating in 1977, and grew up in Robertson, MO. She professed a belief in Christ at a young age under the leadership of Reverend Jones E. Butler of The First MB Church of Robertson. Bessie loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. Bessie had a gift of a prophet and was a blessing to the body of Christ. She changed the life of young and old.
Bessie went to work right out of high school in the healthcare field. She worked to take care of the sick, the shut in, and the troubled. She loved the opportunity to help everybody and to spread the word of the Lord.
Bessie loved her family, the gatherings, cooking, playing cards, bingo, picnicking and Easter egg hunts. She organized prayer services on social media to reach others near and far. She loved to travel and decorate. Her special dishes were lasagna and potato salad.
Bessie was a devoted member of Tribe of Judah/City of Faith under the leadership of Bishop Alonzo Johnson. Bessie was President of The Usher Board, Chairman of The Hospitality Committee, and led the Helps Ministry.
On November 27, 2021, at the age of 62 wonderful years, Bessie was called to rest in eternal glory. She was surrounded by her family, children, sisters, brothers, and grandchildren, who all loved her dearly.
Bessie leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Andre and Carlos Johnson; one daughter, Susan Nicholson (Justin); one goddaughter, Icy Logan; 23 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jacqueline Edwards and Mary Sykes (Glen); two brothers, Joseph (Jean) and Marvin; best friend, Monica Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
